The Good
"The Giver," Chappell Roan: The next generation of pop stars are officially out-pop countrying Music Row, and the Nashville establishment has only itself to blame. A horny, good-timing anthem with a healthy dose of Shania — why would anyone listen to nu-metal country when they could have this instead? Keep it coming Chappell and Sabrina (no pun intended…). — NW
"2733," Angel White: Love the stripped down sound, love the conversational hookiness — almost an Evan Honer level of Gen Z energy here, but in a way that I can totally appreciate. (This has been out for a while, but it's on Angel's album which is finally out!). — NW
"Not At This Party," Dasha: I haven't been super sold on Dasha, but I do think if we have to listen to Mumford-pilled stomp-clap dance music, this is probably the best version of that? Damning with faint praise I realize, but I do think this is fun. In the context of a zillion emo angsty bros aiming for either bad R&B or bad rock, I can get behind it. — NW
